Happy New Year! 2004 was a great year for me, and for CUGS, Consortium Ultimate Gaming Servers. I will soon begin work on maps for the Nexus Star Trek mod mentioned and linked below. I am producing a patch for the UAW Mod for OP. Here's the readme so far:

1. Gorn (OrionOrion) G-BBF turn mode fixed - the ship can move now!
2. Klingon Heavy Cruisers (Late - TNG era - rearranged according to bpv number)
3. Dominion D-FF+ Jem'Hadar Fighter(Frigate) was crashing the game to desktop - fixed
4. Scimitar fighters - Scorpion Class Attack Fighters - get upgraded weapons and power to match the 1000 bpv.
5. Borg Assimilated Andromedan Vindicator (B-VIN) fighters not launching - fixed
6. Mirak late era heavy cruisers, Z-4XC3 and Z-4XCA upgraded.
7. F-VOY2 (USS Voyager) upgraded per fan request and because I like it..
8. Lyran L-HBC - added missing tractor beams
9. Star Wars ships added to Federation (Republic), Romulan (Empire) - taken from the old Sci-Fi Mod.
10. Battlestar Galactica ships added to end of the Breen - taken from the old Sci-Fi Mod
11. Some new Aliens added
12. K-B11Kn was causing game crash - fixed
13. K-D5G Early Klingon Light Cruiser Brk Mod fixed, hard points adjusted
14. The 'Tournament' script in Multiplayer works properly for all races.
15. The 'Tourneyfest' script works with UAW.
16. Added new TOS heavy cruisers to Fed Early era, NCC-1701 and 4 variants, brand new models by Stress Puppy - Nice Models!!
17. Added a high quality TMP era Fed Excelsior class from the D2 pack by Rick Knox. It's a permanent in the mod.
18. Removed rear firing photons from F-TOS Enterprise per Pestalance.
19. F-DAD is now a 3-nacelled Sovereign (Moonraker model) - same specs
20. Added high quality 1701-A from the old D2 pack, now a permanent part of UAW. It's the F-1701A
21. The F-CAI is the Wrath of Khan Enterprise with no A. The F-CAI and F-1701A are both in Mid era, but the A comes later in years per the shiplist.
22. Plasma Graphics Improved.
23. Late/adv era ISC shields, hull adjusted upwards slightly - 2 ships cloak (you'll find them) - Restitution III fighters upgraded a bit.
24. Break mods included for ships/homeworlds that didn't have them.
25. Missing models causing crashes in the Dynaverse and elsewhere included.

Please note the Star Wars and Battlestar ships will not show up in Dynaverse, Battlefests, Campaigns, etc. They are just for fun in single or multiplayer skirmishes.

On a very serious note, we all need to be thinking about the Asian Tsunami victims. The Star Trek Gamer's directory has this on their front page:

It's now early morning December 31st 2005, not long to go now until another year starts and people look back to the year that was 2004.  No doubt Vic his usual end of year speech on the front page later on next week in the first week of 2005 which will hopefully bring a new hope to trek gamers.

However, as everyone is getting ready to bring in the new year all the media's eyes turn towards the Asian Tsunami victims.  More than 125,000 people have been confirmed as dead with more than 1/3rd of the victims being children.  As you are making your new year resolutions wherever you are, think about the victims of the Tsunami floods and give as much as you can spare to donate to your various countries donation appeals to help the people affected by the Tsunami.

For the people in the UK, visit this site http://www.dec.org.uk to donate as much as you can, any amount will help.

CUGS, Consortium Ultimate Gaming Servers, and its affiliates Consortium Unlimited and Sullivan Designs, are accepting donations that will go to the American Red Cross to help the victims in any way possible. This site, our current news site, has a PayPal donation button on it. Use that to donate, and specify you are donating for the Tsunami victims. We will send the check to the American Red Cross.

Have you seen our Orion Pirates Ladder League? Also look at this.

The Universe At War has been updated for a single file free download hosted by Dynaverse.net! Go Here!

My Interview is online! See it on the Star Trek Gamers Directory

Monday, Dec. 13, 2004

A few things.

1. I am being interviewed! See this on the Star Trek Gamers Directory - under new management.
Hardtalk - New Interview Coming Soon

Posted by Tony on 03.12. at 21:01
We managed to catch up with the godfather of SFC modding himself, Mr Chris Jones, for an exclusive STGD HardTalk interview on the world of modding in SFC and Bridge Commander.

Look out for it, its coming VERY soon.

As you might know, a great many of the mods you get from my site here are hosted by The Star Trek Gamers Directory. I urge you to support that site.

2. The Universe At War public download is going to be updated. We are going to release the full version of the Universe At War. Some people already have a CD of it, and this new public download will be a slightly different version from the CD. What we are doing is putting a public patch together that should be released before the end of 2004 that will address any issues that the CD version has, and what the public download contains. All games get patches right?, lol. I could have gone on another 3 months adding this or that, but we had to put what is called a 'feature freeze' on it at some point and release it. The mod will be initially hosted by Dynaverse.Net, and I plan to get it on the Star Trek Gamers Directory as well. This is turning out to be one of my most popular mods, and part of the reason is the support of the fans like yourself, and this fine organization I am part of called

See the CUGS description below. CUGS sponsors King of the Hill Tourneys every Saturday on Gamespy Arcade.

Wednesday(12/22) before Christmas we will give away a Klingon dagger to the winner of the 1v1 "King Of The Hill"
Tourney dates /time:
12/18/04 8pm est
12/22/04 8pm est

We have a Teamspeak server at 24.189.82.203:8767, and you're invited to drop in and say hello.

3. I've been looking at this new game and at the current Star Trek Mod being put together by Darkshimmer of Bridge Commander Multiplayer Mod Pack fame, Darkdrone (the all time king of converting 3d models from one game to another), and Darkthunder. (You can see many screenshots of the BC Multiplayer Mod Pack, with my maps, on my site right here)!

)
Nexus is like a combination of Starfleet Command and Freelancer with stunning graphics. Here's a direct link to some of the screenshots. Here's more screenies... and more, lol. Watch out for this game. At some point I want to do system maps for it, like I did for BC.

4. I'd like to put my support into Star Trek Online. That game will be totally awesome, and worth the wait. We the fans of Star Trek, need to keep Trek gaming alive until then by playing and supporting the current Trek games, and keeping the various forums buzzing. I will keep updating my own Frost-Works forums as well.
Star Trek Online

5. My take on 'Enterprise'. I like it, it is getting better with each season, I like Jeffrey Combs as an Andorian, I think Scott Bakula does a fine job as Captain and I can see similarities between him and Kirk. But.. I MISS MY TNG!! lol.

On another note, this site, The Star Trek Gamers Directory, was down for a bit and is back online under new management. Kudos to Victor for all his time and effort over the years. It is a pleasure to be associated with people of such high caliber. Many of my mod files are hosted there.

On yet another note, lol, I have been playing with the Multi-Era Mod for EAW, making little missions(scenarios). I'm also updating the old girl with new specs and audio. Same thing with the EAW TNG Mod.

FEATURED BC MOD

Sol Multisystem (Version 1).

Get it here!

Select Sol Multisystem as a Quickbattle Map, and you'll have the option of warping to any of the nine planets in our solar system, along with any maps NanoFx2 has enabled.

Some systems have ships flying along until attacked. Some systems have ships that will attack any enemy entering the system.

Earth has lots of activity. Any enemies that come around will be met with the Federation's wrath.
New Earth texture included, given to me (Chris) by Dark Thunder.

You'll be able to dock with Starfleet Command at Earth. Earth and Mars each have a commandable
Akira Class. At Earth you can tell the Akira to dock with Starfleet Command.
Special thanks to Jeff Watts, Jr for some scripting work and mutator setup. (going back to Summer 2003).

Mars has a dockable Spacedock. A bug exists to where you have to have your commandable ship dock before
your own ship can. We may have to live with it. A new DryDock harpoint is included that enables Mars docking. It will not affect normal gameplay. (Thanks, Jeff.)

Jupiter also has a dockable base called Jupiter Station (Fed Starbase model), along with 2 commandable ships that will dock as well.

There's some shuttles moving around the Saturn system.
New Saturn and Saturn's Rings models created by Jeff Watts, Jr. using Dasher's Saturn Textures. Dasher's texture is also used for the rotating color band atmosphere effect, implemented by Chris Jones. Saturn's rings are colored, using the same texture color as Dasher did with Saturn. The rings are transparent as well, thanks to Jeff.

Uranus and Neptune have a faint ring system, as they do in real space. Jeff Watts, Jr is the author of the rings and the textures for them. Jeff would like to thank Cpt. LC Amaral for help and tips regarding the transparent rings.

A Sovereign and Ambassador Class start in Neptune. If you start out with enemies in Quickbattle in the Multisystem, the Sov will come from Neptune to help you battle. You will not start out in any particular system with this mod, just deep space, outside the Sol System. Once you warp to anywhere in the Sol System, the Sov will not follow, but suddenly get called away somewhere else. If by chance you play in the Neptune system by itself, the Sov (and Ambassador) will be there to help.

A new Cardassian Starbase hardpoint is included that gives the base Federation Phasers (near Pluto). The Federation phasers are quite powerful and the shield system has been enhanced. The original base hardpoint is included for backup, named cardstarbase.pyORIG. You can rename it by deleting the ORIG part from the extension to get the original file back.
